Lisa Angrick (nee Chambers) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 8, 1971.  She grew up on Indianapolis’ north side, and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1989, where she met her husband, Andy Angrick.  The pair went on their first date on October 2, 1987 and never looked back.  They married on March 11, 1994 and welcomed their first daughter, Anna, into the world on September 21, 1996.  Their second daughter, Macy, followed on June 16, 1999.

As the family grew, they moved from their home in the Rocky Ripple neighborhood to Indianapolis’ northeast side, where Lisa became a vital member of the Binford Redevelopment and Growth (BRAG) neighborhood organization.  She headed up BRAG’s Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiative, a grant-funded project to plan and implement quality-of-life enhancements to the neighborhood.  Lisa coordinated over two hundred community meetings and events, organizing a grassroots effort to define, prioritize, and then act upon what was most important to our neighborhood. Lisa also worked for the neighborhood crime watch and in trails and beautification efforts.   Hundreds of trees were watered thanks to her.

Lisa will be remembered for her sense of humor, her green thumb, her love of animals, and her dedication to serving others.  Her door was always open to those in need—from cats and dogs to friends, family, neighbors, and her children’s friends.  She was a loyal volunteer at Skiles Test School, a recognized face at the Binford Farmer’s Market, a lover of the outdoors and camping, and had an eye for original jewelry and interior design.  If you visited her during the summer and fall, you could count on being sent home with some green beans, tomatoes, or carrots from her garden.

On March 5, 2014, Lisa passed away after a long battle with a systemic illness.  All of Lisa’s friends, family, and neighbors are grateful to have known her.  She is survived by her husband Andy Angrick; her daughters Anna and Macy Angrick; her mother and stepfather Beth and Bob Grigsby; her grandmother Elizabth Kestler; and her siblings Bobby and Sarah Grigsby, Julie Stuckey, and Ben Hudelson.

A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held on Sunday March 16th at the Knights of Columbus, 2100 E. 71st St, Indianapolis from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Lisa and my sister, Allyson, were friends when Allyson lived in the Indy area. I enjoyed meeting Lisa several times and remember her and her beautiful girls fondly. The Forsythe family is deeply saddened by the news of Lisa’s passing and we send our heartfelt sympathies.

    To the Family.

I am sorry for the lost of your family member and dear friend. I have an encouraging message that I would like to share with you from God’s Word the Bible.

Like many people we all want to live and enjoy life with the ones we have lost to this aged-old-enemy death. Sadly, though because of health issues, injustice, crimes and old age we have to suffer the pain when ones fall asleep in death.

In the Bible at John 5:28,29 Christ Jesus states that all those in the memorial tombs (graves) will hear his voice and come out. These ones according to Psalm 37:11 will be resurrected right here on the earth.

The Bible also gives us comfort and hope at Revelation 21:3-5 which assures us that the day is soon to come in which our Heavenly Father is going to wipe away the tears of sorrow from our eyes forever and death will be no more.

I hope that after reading this that it will be of comfort to each of you.

What a beautifully written tribute describing Lisa.
Although I have never met her face-to-face, I feel I know her just a little bit better. Over the years, Julie has shared fun stories with me.
My heart goes out to all of you.
May you find moments of peace and understanding amidst the sorrow of saying good bye.
May warm memories soften your sorrow.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers,
    Marian
    (friend of Julie)

Getting a grandchild like Lisa brought a new meaning to my life. Watching her grow from child to womanhood brought other experiences with bumps along the road and lots of laughter, but most of all her loving nature bloomed. She expressed herself in her yard and community work. Lisa’s true love was Andy and in time they opened their arms to daughters Anna and Macy. Love now equaled family and her garden was complete. I miss her, Elizabeth, grandmother.

Lisa is my older sister. She filled that role in her own unique loving way. It is one of my greatest joys that we were able to move past the sibling rivalry of childhood to become best friends as adults. I miss our daily conversations. To her last moments shelived her life to the fullest.

Lisa was a sister to me in every way. I loved being at her house and she taught me how to sit and babysit. When I didn’t know how to function in life I looked up to her, and knew that the love I saw between Lisa and Andy is something that I wanted. And I am so grateful that I had Anna and Macy to teach me what it is to be a good aunt. I had so much fun having the girls over for art time overnights. I wouldn’t be the person, mother, and wife that I am if I hadn’t met Lisa. She showed me how to be a family with rules and boundaries. She was always my friend in hard times.I hope her spirit is free now so she can watch over all of us from the other side.I will miss her. she was my friend. I look forward to the future with having Anna and Macy in my life, and am glad they met my Evelyn.
